Pale Morning Dun, Comparadun
The PMD Comparadun provides a great mix of lifelike silhouette, visibility, and buoyancy. Many fly fishing guides go straight to comparaduns when a PMD hatch brings up actively rising trout. This fly pattern floats in all but the fastest and roughest stream currents and trout seem to prefer this fly to many of the traditional hackled patterns. Fly fishers around the world should consider this a staple fly where PMD or similar mayflies are present.

Today's cabo fishing ArticleOntario Fishing Tips
Getting ready
1. If youre bound for a fishing trip to the North Country, expect to spend much on transportation, your outfit, licenses and permits. For a lot of people, the trips highlight will be fishing. For this reason, you should get yourself a new line on your reel.
2. Protect your eyes while fishing and you should only invest in a good quality pair of polarized sunglasses, as it will not only aid in protecting the eyes, but saltwater fishing tackle commercial fishing will also provide superior visual penetration into the water.
3. Keep mosquito repellent as well as plastic worms in a separate compartment, making sure it is out of the tackle box as both items do contain lacquer solvent that can soften the paint of any metal, plastic, or wood lure and the soft paint may never harden.
4. Always keep a small file or a small stone handy to be used to keep the hooks needle sharp.
5. Learn how to tie good knots. Practice carefully until such time that you are already certain that they will hold.
General fishing guidelines:
1. Dont fish with any bait in just one spot for more than 10 casts. If, by those casts, nothing changes, its time you change location.
2. Properly position the canoe, not too close or too far from the fish. If you are too close, you will frighten the fish. If you are too far, you can not accurately place the lure in position.
3. When doing top water fishing, do not set the hook until you can really feel that the fish is on the lure, being very careful not to surprise the fish. Just keep on working the lure cautiously towards you.
4. Be very patient. Just be certain that you know you are in a suitable fish-producing area.
5. Always be quiet, as sound can travel through the water better than through the air.
6. Release carefully, instantly and safely any fish that you do not plan to eat. Preservation of Ontarios fishing resources is essential and needed for fishing to continue thriving.
7. While waiting for your catch, or when you do catch anything or none at all, look at the scene behind you, take a deep breath and enjoy the only lakeland wilderness in the entire world!
Fishing Regulations
Carry charter fishing your license with you
Residents of Canada should have a fishing-version Outdoors Card and must have a fishing license tag that is attached to it so that it can be considered as valid.
Non Canadian residents should have their basic license form signed and have the correct license tag fastened in order that it can be considered valid.
Keep in mind always that a Outdoors Card or non-resident license card is non-transferable; it grants privileges to you alone. It should be carried with you each time you go fishing.
Note too, that whenever a Conservation Officer requests to see and examine your license, the law requires you to show it.
State and District Regulations
State and District rules control angling in Ontario. The key and major State law with regards to fishing is the Ontarios Fisheries Act; this defends guards and takes care of and save fish and its habitat. Likewise, it controls the fishing seasons, limits to catch, possession, and size, and the gears allowed as well as fish sanctuaries. On the other hand, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act is the major provincial law that regulates fishing. It is stated in this decree, that fishing licenses are issued.
Wildlife Protection shakespeare fishing and Preservation Officers
Wildlife Protection Officers have the authority to inspect, search, arrest, and seize under the different act they carry out, together with Ontarios Fish and Wildlife Preservation decree as well as the Fisheries Regulation and Act. During the Conservation Officers duty, they may do the following:
1. Ask important questions that are in relation to the inspection they are conducting;
2. Review and examine buildings;
3. Stop and examine a boat, vehicle, or aircraft;
4. Confiscate certain items which are related to the offence that an individual may have done;
5. Search and fishing knots investigate having a warrant to legalize such search;
6. Search and investigate having no warrant to support the search in situations that require immediate attention and action;
7. Arrest anybody that the Wildlife Preservation Officer supposes and believe has committed, or is on the act of performing, or is about to perform a violation or offence.
Open Seasons
The opening and closing dates of fishing season changes and is determined by the species on the area. It is illegal to try catching a fish for which the season has already been closed, even if one is going to release it after. Do understand that closed seasons protect the fish at time of the year when they are most susceptible especially during spawning.
Unless specially stated, species that are not on the list have a year-round open season fishing rods.
A Short cabo fishing SummaryGreen Drake, Dun, Sparkle
Similar to the Comparadun, this Sparkle Green Drake pattern covers the stage of a mayfly hatch just before complete emergence of the dun. At this vulnerable stage mayflies are irresistable to rising trout. Every angler should carry these flies in appropriate sizes and colors for fishing the beginning stages of mayfly hatches.

Fly Fishing for Trout in Tailwaters
In addition to Mother Nature, man and computers control the habitat of trout in tailwaters. Discharges from dams can change a calm tailwater stream into a fast flowing river in a matter of minutes yet some tailwaters fluctuate only moderately. Trout adjust their location and feeding habits to these changes in the rates of flow and if anglers are to be successful, they must learn to adjust their fishing methods and techniques accordingly. This program covers a wide variety of streams across the U. S. from East to West, including scenes from over thirty blue ribbon tailwaters. Following the strategies, fishing methods and fly selection procedures presented in this program can greatly increase your odds of success and provide the same type of excitement, success and gratification for you.

Today's fishing trip ArticleChoosing the Correct Fishing Rod
When it comes to fishing rods, what the heck does it all mean? There are all kinds of things written on the fishing rod itself, and all of them have a different "feel". I'm going to attempt to clear up some of the confusion for you, although at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference. I've seen a lot of anglers that have one fishing rod that they use for all of their fishing. This is a mistake and a sure fire sign that said angler doesn't catch many fish. I'm not suggesting that you should have a locker full of 50 different rods, but you should have two or three available for different situations. Fishing rods come is the basic actions listed below. This information is printed (in very small lettering) on the rod itself, directly above the handle, along with suggestions as to lure and line sizes. My suggestion is that you have at least three rods to choose from for ant given fishing situation. Ultra light Action - these rods are used for fishing very small lures. Ultra light rods are perfect for small stream and river fishing, such as when you're wading. The heavier the current, the longer rod you will want. Ultra light rods are a great choice for trout and pan fish. Light Action - Light action rods are used for the same situations as ultra light action rods. If you're just starting out, start with a light action rod and work your way to ultra light. Again, these rods are perfect for trout and pan fish fishing. Medium Action - Medium action rods are right in the middle of the scale (imagine that). Medium action rods are to be used when wading larger rivers for larger fish. I personally use medium action rods for my walleye and smallmouth bass fishing in Canada. Medium action is also a good size for trolling smaller lures. Medium Heavy Action - This size rod is great for trolling most lures. Medium heavy rods are also great for most salmon and steelhead fishing. As the name suggests, these rods are to be used in situations where you're after bigger fish (10 to 20 pounds as a general example), although it's also a favorite size for large mouth bass anglers. Heavy Action - Obviously, these are your big boys. Largemouth bass fishermen will use rods this size to fish heavy cover and the like. Also, when you're fishing for big pike and muskie, heavy action rods are a must. These rods are used for really big fish (over 20 pounds as a general example). This action rod is also used for heavy trolling, such as that done with downriggers. After this brief overview, you should have a better understanding of what the different actions of fishing rods mean to you as an angler. As mentioned earlier, you will probably want at least three different fishing rods for different fishing situations. That way you can pick and choose as the situation changes. As an example, I use my four foot ultra light rod for most of my small river and stream fishing, but in the springtime, when the water is really high, I switch to my five foot six inch ultra light rod. The longer rod makes it easier to feel bites in heavy current.

A florida fishing Artilce for Your ViewingSome Great Tips For Top water Fishing: Destination-Smallmouth Bass
I was smallmouth bass fishing on the French River in northern Ontario about five years ago when my fishing partner and I stumbled on a pattern that was deadly not only on that trip, but has been ever since. If these factors are taken into account, smallmouth bass are always caught. I would assume the same pattern would hold true anywhere that smallmouth swim, but I know it holds true on the French River. Before I get into the actual factors, lets discuss top water lures. Although this is largely about personal preference, and what has worked for you in the past, any top water lure up to about four inches in length has been effective. Frog and minnow patterns are our favorite, but again this is largely up to you. Popper types lures seems to work better than propeller types as well. Now let's get into the specific factors that you need to look for in order to have a great time catching smallmouth bass on top water lures. No Wind - The water needs to be like glass for the pattern to be most effective. Mornings and evenings are usually the best time to find calm conditions. The point is that it's imperative that the water is like glass.
Weeds and Broken Rock - The most effective area's are those area's where weeds and broken rock come together. Both area's are okay by themselves, but when they come together?..watch out.
Shallow Water - The water depth couldn't exceed ten feet. It's also helpful if there's deep water close by. Four to ten feet is always best (at least on the French).
Silence - This might sound obvious, seeing as how we're talking about fishing, but being quite is even more important in this situation. When the water is as still as you want it to be, there's no background noise to camouflage the noise that the angler may be making. Being quiet is imperative in this fishing situation.
If you can bring these four conditions together, you'll have as much fun catching fish as you ever have in your life. And the beautiful thing about this is that in any given week, you can bring these conditions together almost every day. As I mentioned, mornings and evenings are going to be your best bet. Have fun; I know that you will.

We're small, but our products are already making more than a few ripples. By rethinking product design from the ground-up, we've created an impressive line up of fly-fishing storage products and accessories that look great, and outperform anything else available on the market. We started with a few simple ideas: design and create a tippet dispenser, develop an innovative cutting tool or clipper, and reshape the fly storage category with the creation of a series of soft-sided cases and chest packs. Our simple ideas turned into very complex design obstacles and challenged some of the best industrial designers in the country, yet we've succeeded with our vision and created a line of revolutionary accessory products that will stand the test of time. Fishpond is all about design and function . We are the first to bring a functional tippet dispenser to the market-one that stores, straightens, cuts and dispenses tippet material directly from most commercially manufactured freshwater tippet spools. Look for our saltwater version in the coming months. Tired of plastic and aluminum fly boxes? We've also created an entirely new product category with our molded nylon and soft-sided fly cases. With ease-of-use in mind, brightly colored jacquard webbing on the spine serves as a hand strap to securely hold the case while on the water. This gives our cases their signature style and unparalleled function. To keep us on the cutting edge, we're redefining the accessory segment with revolutionary products like our patented, ergonomically designed Titanium Clippers with optional integrated retractor that make competitive tools based on the traditional nail clipper obsolete. Our research has told us that fly-fishing enthusiasts want to lighten their load. In response to this trend, fishpond has created two new chest/fanny packs that can complement or replace the traditional fishing vest. Each product has our signature zip-down "fly bench" with a replaceable foam fly page that serves as a convenient fly changing station and work area. At fishpond, we're committed to staying on the leading edge of fly-fishing product design, and we're already hard at work on the next generation of new products to enhance our position as an emerging leader with our dealer-partners and customers.
